The other night I had a sudden urge to do a little refashioning. I needed (not sure why) to make a reversible vest for my littlest guy. So, after a few hours of cutting and sewing, this is what I came up with. And the best part, everything came from my husbands closet and my thrift store stash. The only items purchased were cotton batting and the front zipper (which I would soon come to realize was the downfall in my reversible plan... I didn't check to make sure it was a reversible zipper). Oops! Oh well, I still love how it turned out!
I was able to use the original pockets from the jacket and the shirt - saving me a lot of time. As for the pattern, it was roughly traced from a vest we already own.

yes, I did forget to sew in the tag while attaching the collar... minor details!
What a fantastic redo! I never would have thought to do a lining for a shirt vest but you did it effortlessly. Is the shirt invisibly stitched in?? Or are there top stitches we just cant see? What a well-dressed little man (^_~).Brilliant.-roe.
Thanks Roe! The vest is quilted all the way though on the back, but the lining on the front is just top-stitched around the edge, kind of by mistake - I forgot to quilt the lining before it got assembled - oops!
This is a fantastic refashion. If you get the chance Id love for you to add it to my Reduce, Reuse, ReFASHION for kids album on flickr. And please link it back to your post in the comments!http://www.flickr.com/groups/kidsrefashion/
